Gachenblick burnt offerings site

Attraction

One of the most important Bronze Age Alpine routes ran over Piller Sattel. Starting at Nature park building, you can still walk along a little section of this historically important route and visit the site where burnt offerings were made - an important prehistoric and Roman sacred ritual.  Sacrifices to the gods took place continuously from the Bronze Age (approx. 500 AD). The findings in this region make the Archaeological Museum in Fliess one of the most important centres of Alpine archaeology.

The burnt offerings site is located in the vicinity of Nature park building Kaunergrat at Gachenblick, off the road connecting the towns of Kaunerberg and Fliess.
