Climbing the filigree ice formations is one of the most gentle and sensitive forms of climbing, and is reserved for those that have the experience, skill and commitment to the elementary forces of nature.

All ice climbers are asked to maintain this treasure. This includes quiet, respectful conduct when in and around nature. And, of course, the ice falls should be left as untouched as you found them.

The Tyrolean Oberland is THE El Dorado for ice climbing - this valley alone offers 7 ice falls, whilst neighbouring Kaunertal offers as many as 20.

Ice climbing by night - a absolute winter highlight!

Face the challenge of the ice climbing tour. The 17m-high ice tower in the heart of Pfunds in the absolute winter highlight. Supervised by specialised mountain guides and experts, summiteers with a good head for heights can experience the fascinating world of ice climbing in a safe area! Well-protected by helmet, crayons and other equipment the 17m-high tower in the centre of Pfunds is conquered.

Price : € 5,00 per trial
every Tuesday and Thursday: 7:30 - 10:00 pm

Those that have had enough practice on the ice tower in Pfunds may wish to try one of nature’s bizarre pieces of art – on the frozen Anton Renk waterfall above Ried, for example. And sporty types that want to take things to the next level are recommended to try the frozen waterfalls of the neighbouring region of the Kaunertal valley – a top destination for ice climbers.

An ice climbing brochure, available from the TVB offices for € 3.90, provides detailed information on ice falls in the area.
