Parish church St. James Ä.

The church, which at its heart is medieval, has been reshaped and expanded many times. At the end of the 15th century, the original Romanesque structure was replaced by a new, late-Gothic building. Only the tower remained from the medieval building. After another conversion into the Baroque style, there is proof of a consecration in 1761. In 1886 and from 1899 to 1901, the church was then rebuilt. The tower had been raised in 1892. The village centre was once formed around the church of Kauns. The church tower soared high above the roofs of the sunny village. A real Gothic gem with precious altars and colourfully painted windows. The parish church in Kauns is typical Tyrol country church. The current late Gothic structure and outer appearance of the church was built on the first Romanesque building. Major restoration work was carried out from 1985 to 1988, with great emphasis on renovating the original layout from 1900. The painted ceilings in the long house vault are by Thomas Köhle (1901). High altar and relief by Josef Bachlechner. Both these places of worship are definitely worth a visit!
