The foundation stones for the chapel were laid in 1320. Back than a chapel was built in the honor of St. Leonhard where today is the high altar. Between 1512 and 1526 the chapel was extended into a gothic church. The spire as it is today was added in 1550. Between 1715 and 1718 the church was being extended once more. Last renovations were being made between 1975 and 1981.
