Every three years Nassereith stages the ancient "Nassereith Schellerlaufen" pageant, one of the most impressive Shrovetide traditions of the German speaking countries. Come reven in the sight of colorful dresses, ancient traditions, and remarkable wooden masks as well as unique baroque and rococo silk costumes!
A Symbolic Fight
The parade´s highlight takes place after the bells ring at noon: the bear starts his fight against his tormentor, the keeper, who demands all kinds of tricks of the bear until he revolts and fights down the keeper. What follows is a dance of joy of the masks. According to legend the fight symbolizes the triumph of spring over winter.
The Nassereith pageant takes place every three years. In the evening, after the bells call for prayer, the masks disappear again for three years.

Wonderful Wooden Mask
In addition to the witches, who, after the bear fight, pledge allegiance to the Witch Mother, there are plenty of other traditional and meaningful characters participating in the pageant.
Very popular are the colorful and lavishly decorated floats.
