Kaunertal glacier - a great experience any time of year!
The Kaunertal Center offers comprehensive sports and leisure facilities such as indoor swimming pool, sauna, tanning bed, steam bath, bowling alley, gyms, tennis courts, asphalt curling and restaurant open daily.
Kaunertal offers great possibilities not only in winter but also in summer. Many visitors have decided that the smallest side valley of the Ötztal Alps is also the most beautiful, offering more than 250 km of stunning hiking trails!
Take part in traditional events such as village parties, transhumance (cattle parades), folklore nights, theater performances and slide show presentations! If you're luck you might even meet an ibex on one of your walks, they love it here!
The Kaunertal glacier road is truly spectacular, a long and winding road which leads from Feichten down in the valley (1,287 m) up to the center of the Eternal Ice, on an altitude of 2,750 m above sea level. The road is 26 km long, with 29 steep turns, covering a difference in altitude of some 1,500 m. Driving up to the mountain station is like driving along way up to the very North of Europe, past several climes in the space of only a couple of minutes.
